It’s Not About You

2 min read

When it comes to training, your clients are paying you to help them reach their fitness goals.

We try our best to make sure we program the workouts accordingly.  We can get to a point where we commit too much to said workouts.

You may have programmed your clients workouts two to three weeks out, depending on however you structure your system.

What if your client doesn’t like that?  What if it’s not challenging enough?  What if it’s too challenging?  Will you adjust, or be bullheaded, keeping things the way they are.

Yes, they are your client but they are still your customer. One thing that I picked up in an audio book was, “The customer isn’t always right, but they are always the customer.”

That resonates a lot, because they’re still paying you.  You still have to abide by how they want to do things.

It’s cool to have your program,  but it’s very imperative that you make sure that you’re giving them what they want.  At the end of the day, it’s not always about you.  It’s never been about you.

Don’t think of yourself as this superstar trainer that nobody can say anything to or offer a little bit of criticism.  The relationship with you and your client should be to a point to where you can have these open discussions.  They may want things adjusted so they can feel comfortable to make sure they can execute the exercises properly.

It’s cool to take some feedback from your clients.  This will ensure a healthy friendship/ client, and personal trainer relationship.

Overall, it will help you grow as a listener.  It will help n help you grow as a person.  It will help you grow as a trainer.  Always remember to make sure that you are still
giving the customer what they want.
