YOUR WORKOUT VIDEOS HAVE NO PURPOSE

YOUR WORKOUT VIDEOS HAVE NO PURPOSE

workout

This day in age anyone can make a workout video.  You could just grab your phone, point, shoot , record and post to your desired social network. You get excited because you’re sharing what you do in regards to fitness.  Here’s the thing, your workout videos have no purpose if you’re not helping anyone.

I look at a lot of workout videos throughout my day.  Some may be in fitness groups or on YouTube.  In my opinion you should have a lot more care of the message that you send out.  I see a lot of videos where people are going live and they’re just working out.  I look at it like you’re doing this for yourself as a self motivation/accountability thing.  I can’t say that I don’t agree with that but to me it’s like if you’re building yourself then why not do it in private.  On the same hand I understand everybody may not have a great support system.  Fitness groups may have like-minded people who are very supportive of people on their fitness journey so I get it.

I try my best not to be judgemental but if I’ve been following you on your fitness journey for months via your workout videos and I haven’t seen any progress, then I question why are you constantly recording yourself and posting it?  At the same time I do see people make healthy/fitness progress in their videos and I am one of the first to congratulate them.  I personally feel that a lot of people who post constantly in these workout groups should go ahead and make a YouTube channel so their message of progress can be broadcast worldwide versus being confined to a private social network.

Are you motivating people? Is it just about you just being in front of a camera? Is what you do impressive?  Personally, if you’ve seen one person dumbbell curl, you’ve seen them all.  We live in a narcissistic, self centered society. It’s all about the person and not about the people. Selfie sticks, camera drones following you, and a film crew….what’s your purpose? Is it for you or is it for them, the people?

Personally I took a step back a few months ago to ask myself the same question what am I doing it for. I can admit my first few videos that I posted was more like let me show you what I can do.  My first video that I uploaded to YouTube was my 225 pound barbell lunge.

To be honest when I recorded it I did not have the intent on putting it on YouTube until I thought about it for a few hours.   My thought process was letting me post this to see what they will think about it.

Vanity played a huge part in that video as well as my next few.  I had no thought in production.  No thought into the message that I was sending out other than look at me, look at me, look at me.

I got a couple of views on those videos and that was it.  I felt like I should’ve had more but I believe my message was off.  If it wasn’t my message it was my intent, my heart.  Looking at those videos now I can admit I had no clue on what I was doing.

I will question a lot of things after I posted a video and didn’t get the feedback that I wanted. That feedback would be 500,000 views and YouTube fame. That has not come yet but something better has came to hold me over until then. Did you all letting me know that I motivate you and I inspire you.

It wasn’t until I received some feedback from you that you let me know how my story along with my videos have motivated you to do better in your life.  You guys have no idea how big of an impact those statements are to me because I would’ve never thought that.  I did not intend for that.  I was just recording myself doing what I do on a typical workout day.  When you all started to let me know how it affected your life in a positive way it made me realize that my videos did have purpose.
My purpose and intent now and every video that I do is to help educate you and teach you something new.  I never would’ve thought that me pointing the camera and recording some of the things I do in the gym as well as in the kitchen would inspire you enough to follow my lead.  With that being said I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I will continue to make more videos for you because now I know my intent I know my purpose and I know that you guys are counting on it.  All I ask in return is that you just share the knowledge that I’m giving you.  Share my content whenever you can.  “Remember it’s each one teach one”
