#SundayConfessions 10-22-17 | YOU NEED TO DELETE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA APPS

Yes this is what I’ve been telling myself for the past few weeks. It was just a thought until I made it happen. Yes I deleted the apps from my phone. About two weeks ago I deleted a few, but not all.

I still had my auto scheduler app like hootsuite and I was able to go check my twitter account. It was different I will say. I also had my facebook page manager app as well. That lasted for a few days until I re added the other apps and I was back on social media again.

As I was scrolling, I realized it didn’t excite me anymore. I caught myself wanting to delete it again for the same reason I did it earlier that week. The main reason was…it was distracting me. I have so much on my mental right now, I can’t begin to let you know where to start at. Just know that, it was a big distraction for me as of late. I close one app, just to open another one. I would repeat the process at least 4 times within a two minute period. Think about it, Facebook, Facebook page manager, twitter, pinterest, instagram, just opening, scrolling, closing the app, just to do the same thing with the next app.

I would see people documenting their day. Be it a workout, meal prep, or just sharing family pictures. That’s what it’s suppose to be used for right? Right. I caught myself worrying too much of what my social media connects thought of me. Who liked this picture? How many views did this video get? Just worrying too much of others opinions of me. I don’t know about you but it’s just what I am going through at this point.

Personally, I put out a lot of content so I am always checking what post, pic, or video resonates the most with the public. When I see content fail to get the engagement I feel it needs, then yeah, I do feel a certain way. That “way”, is getting to me. It’s starting to make me not feel like doing this any more. Don’t panic. Who doesn’t feel like unplugging every now and then? That’s just where I am now. Just disconnecting for a little bit. I know I have responsibilities to you, you know, to check in with you to let you know how everything is going. It’s just tough at this point.

With that feeling alone, I decided to delete all of my social media apps from my phone. It’s for my mental sanity. The approval of others is a personal issue. A new one. I’ve never had to worry about that ever in my life. I was always to myself. As stated in my post earlier this week, I’ve always been somewhat of a loner. This putting myself out there because yes, I am the face of what I represent, is starting to take a different toll on me that I had no clue that it would.

Again, don’t panic. I don’t need a psych or anything like that, I just have to learn balance. I still check my social media, but just from my computer. You know what, it’s been better for me that way. I was doing way too much with all the apps trying to keep up with everything. I’m not against social media by any means, just for me, I just need to ease up at the moment. I’m getting use to writing a blog post, then posting it, and wherever it lands in the vast internet world, that’s where it lands. Sharing it in groups, etc, is just taking too much of my personal time. I use to spend at least 45 minutes to an hour each time I posted, sharing it into different groups on different platforms to get the same results as if I wouldn’t have shared in the groups.

I still have youtube on my phone. I find it more resourceful than anything. I’ve been getting a lot of ideas moving forward. I don’t want you to think I’m down and out. This is just a part of me growing up, making the best choices for myself. I’m not sure how many of you have gone or are going through this, but this is just my point of view. As I stated in a previous post, mental health is the most important above physical health. That’s where it all starts at. Get your mind right, and the rest will follow.
