THE POWER OF ONE
It only takes one thought to start anything. It only takes one word or one phrase to make or break your day. One situation, one decision can have extreme effects on your life on either spectrum.
Every creation starts with one mental inception. How many times has there been days when you didn’t feel like going to the gym, didn’t feel like meal prepping and you just say to yourself I just need that little push to get me to do this. Whatever that thing maybe to get you through, it’s one thought. One saying, one motivational pic, one word, just one.
Let’s say you’re working out and you’re lifting weights. You’re on your 9th rep of 10. On that 9th rep, the thought comes in your head of giving up. The muscles are sore. You’re breathing heavy. You just want out. There’s another part of your brain that turns on that says ONE MORE! You immediately give it all you got to get that final rep in. You get that rep in, now you’re done. You didn’t give up. It was your will that drove you to push for that last rep. That one rep changed everything for you.
You post a gym selfie after your workout because you’re feeling on top of the world. I love that post workout feeling. You get a lot of positive feedback through LIKES and or comments. Then here comes that one slick remark from someone.
There will always be one person that will get out of pocket. They’ll criticize your form, pic, shoestrings, whatever. Just a negative person. This comment will throw you off. You will home in on that one persons comments. It effects you. This choice is yours. You have the power to let that negativity pass you or fester in you. You have 10 positive comments and 1 negative. Why are you focusing on the 1 vs the 10?
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been there too. I’ll focus on that one negative comment and may get into a texting spar with that person. At the end of it, I ask myself why did I not focus on the positivity vs the one negative comment. I can never get that time back from being angry. After a few moments of clarity I’m back to my normal self.
I wrote these scenarios to illustrate how one thing can effect you in a positive way or a negative way. FOCUS ON POSITIVITY as much as you can. Try not to fall into the negative traps life has set up. Every thing is a test one way or another. Choose positivity. It’s only one thought.
