Whether you like it or not, WE ARE NUMBERS.  From the time/ date we are born, it’s documented how much we weighed, and our length.  From then we are assigned a nine digit social security number that will identify us for the rest of our days.  That nine digit number grants us the ability to go to work for a certain amount of time out of the day.   We get paid an income and that number determines what we can or cannot do within that week.  The sizes of our clothes tell us who we are.  We are narrowed down to our weight, waist line, shoe size, and shirt size.  Every day we are surrounded by numbers.  Numbers identify who we are.

When it comes to our weight we tend to shy away from talking about it because the truth is in those numbers.  It seems we will tell someone how much we get paid before we tell them how much we weigh.  One of the first things most people ask me is, “How much do you weigh?”  We live in a world where we accept these numbers.  When it comes to your weight, you have to accept that number as well.  Own that number.  If you are not happy about it, then make your adjustments.  Just know it’s going to take time and dedication to get it to where you want to be.  Don’t shy away from the truth. The truth shall set you free.


I admit there were days where I did not want to weigh in.  Especially on those weeks where I know I had not been doing right by my diet.  The last thing I wanted to see is the scale.  When clothes don’t fit a certain way, then I know I have some adjustments need to be made.  This can be frustrating, but it also keeps me in check.


With all that being said, don’t be afraid to weigh yourself.  I have read articles where they suggest to weigh in every week or every two weeks.  I weighed myself every other day on my weight loss journey. I did this to know where I was in relevance to the goal I had. My thinking at the time was, I have a number in my head on where I’d like to be.  Life happens so that number ends up becoming two.  One will be a minimum and the other a max.  This is what I call a “range”.  As long as I stay within that range, I’m good.   Some days I weigh more, some days I weigh less.

No matter if it’s the scale, what your bank account says, or time of day it is, numbers guide our daily lives.  Our will power can help shift some of those numbers positively to help us reach the goals we have set for ourselves.  Try not to let this reality of numbers bog you down.  It’s all in the perspective of how you view the situations, through your two eyes.
