What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Do you plan to be in a food coma like me? This is my favorite time of the year. Not only will there be food galore, it also means my birthday is a few weeks away on December 15th. That’s one of the many reasons why I love this time of year.
In the past, it has been awkward for me. I didn’t know how to handle myself around food, or being social around food. When dieting, I isolated myself away from food and people so I wouldn’t be tempted. That method can only last so long. Over the years I’ve learned to adapt to control myself. Controlling myself by not getting offended when someone says “I be you can’t eat that because it’s not healthy right?” In my head I’m like, “RELAX!”
I’ve come to realize everyone handles their diet differently during this time. No need to be fake about what you want to eat when you’re surrounded by it. Trying to be tough on this day in the midst of all cheat meals, or days you’ve had during the year, in my opinion is silly to fight it on that day. What are you doing it for? Are you doing it for yourself or just to take a picture on social media to show your following that you can stick to your diet during the holidays?
Ive seen this year after year. Those same tough thanksgiving posts will be followed up by a cheat meal post within the next three days. I’m thinking in my head, you should have already gotten that over with. Instead you’re trying to be tough for strangers in a digital program.
Live your life is my best advice. Enjoy the fellowship with friends and family. Close the year with happy times, new memories, and new goals heading into the new year. The last thing you need to stress yourself out over is food. You’ve done enough of that all year.
