MOVING ON TO NEW BEGINNINGS

Todays post was originally going to be called MOVING ON.  When I went to type in the date I noticed something.  8 is the number for New Beginnings.  Turn it on its side and it’s the symbol for infinity.  This is how I came up with the title for todays post.  When you move on, it is a start for something new.  Some of us are creatures of habit.  It takes us a while to break out of routine.  It may because of fear of the unknown.  We get so use to doing the same thing over and over again, that we hardly take time out to see if what we are doing is working.  If it’s not working, then we have to be honest with ourselves, stop what we are doing, then formulate another plan to get on the right path.

Most diet/ workout plans are 6-8 week cycles.  That first week can be tough because it’s a new routine.  You’re trying to figure out if you’re going to stick with it or not.  You have to at least give it a chance.  By the end of the week, you become comfortable in your new routine and you continue on.  By the last week of your cycle you begin to formulate in your mind what the next 6-8 week plan is going to be.  It has to be something new.  The thing is, you’re in a comfort zone at this point and the thought of starting over again to something new can bring some nervousness to the situation.  Just remember how you felt that first week.  Yeah it was awkward, but you got through it.  You developed a comfortable routine then went about your day.

Now what if that cycle you were on wasn’t working?  You gave it a try but it just wasn’t working for you?  You don’t want to give up on it.  After all, you have time invested.  My best advice is to cut it short, reevaluate the situation, then start something new.  It’s cool.  Life is all about adjusting to make sure you’re in the best situation for yourself.  If your workout or diet plan is not working to what you feel it should, then cut it short.

There comes a point in time in our lives where we have to be honest about these things.  This is not about giving up.  This is about adjusting so you can get to where you need to be.  No need in torturing yourself for the sake of sticking it out.  Know when enough is enough.  I remember when I tried that apple cider vinegar detox cleanse years ago.  When I first started it, I was peeing all those impurities out of my body.  After a while my body got use to it, then I wasn’t expelling as often as I was.  I was so use to doing it, I kept doing it.  Not taking into account that it had ran its course.  Me being me, still hardheaded, I kept on.  Eventually, my teeth because sensitive due to the acidity eroding the enamel on my teeth.  Guess what?  I stopped drinking it then.

In that case I did not adjust.  I am not against the ACV cleanse by no means.  Personally I should have been drinking it through a straw.  Most importantly, I should have paid attention to the signs that when it’s over, it’s over.  Trying to hold on to a system that simply does not work for you anymore is only hindering you.  You’re not able to move on and see what else is new out there that could benefit you in what you’re doing.  Don’t be afraid to stop, step out and try something new.
