PURPOSE IN LIFE

Have you ever been asked the question, “What is your purpose in life?”  What was your answer?  If you haven’t, what would your answer be?  I’ve never been asked that question, but I often ask myself, “What am I doing?”  “What does all of this mean?”  When I say “this”, this could be referring to anything how I feel at that moment.  It could be work, it could be working out, or even writing this post.  My answer most of the time is that I am doing this for myself.  As much as I want to believe it, I get people telling me how I inspire them to do better.  It’s tough for me to take in because all along I was out for self in doing it.  I can honestly say that if I were to make a conscious effort into doing anything that’s “inspirational”, intently, I don’t believe in my heart it would come out right.  I believe in things happening organically.  People tell me I inspire them and I thank them, but at the same time ask them how.  This is so I can have a better understanding on how they view me, and life as a whole.  It’s a growing process for me.  I’ve listened to a lot of people over these past few years on this subject.

The conclusion that I’ve come to is that, I believe your (mine as well) purpose in life is to help the next person.  I believe this comes from the second greatest commandment, “Love your neighbor like you would love yourself.”  Help is synonymous with Love.  Rewording the end of the above sentence,”…purpose in life is to love the next person.  Spread love, not war.  I say it quite a bit in my videos.  Not how you go about doing that (helping the next person) will be different.  I believe that in the pursuit of this purpose, it should not be marginalized to one thing.  There are many ways to help people is what I am finding out as I live longer.  If you can’t provide a service (help) for someone then you won’t have any gain.  The service does not have to be defined monetarily.  The gain does not have to be defined monetarily either.  Having gain is not selfish because we has humans are always looking for the next best thing.  The gain that I am talking about is the ability to feel good after a service is provided.  You know, that feel good energy.

As I have come more into myself it is become easier to fill this purpose of helping someone else. Before the weight-loss I was not as confident in myself.  I would still try to help people, but it was from that aspect of me wanting to feel good about myself by doing it but after I did it I still didn’t feel as good.  I believe your self-confidence plays a major factor in your ability to help someone else. If you’re not confident in yourself how could you be sure about helping your fellow man?  The odd thing is, my self confidence builds as I help others.  This goes to show we need each others love in order to survive.  We are all connected.  Each one, teach one! Spread love not war!

  1. i haven’t came across my purpose yet. i always ask myself, what is my purpose in life?

people look at you now and see how you looked before is inspiring. They figure of you can do this transformation so can they. Seeing your transformation gives them hope they too can lose weight if they work hard at it.

  2. I believe that each and every one of us was born for a purpose. I know that I stumbled upon my purpose through experience and my love of people. I believe that we can have multiple purposes throughout our lives (in different seasons). Thank you for opening this conversation.
